The agency is small but full service. It has 16 State Certified sworn officers, 1 civilian Administrative Assistant, and 8 Parking Ambassadors. The staff is split into a Patrol Division, a Criminal Investigations unit, and a seasonal Bicycle and Beach Patrol. That last unit is a busy one in summer when the coastal population swells and the call volume climbs. Most bookings feed through patrol officers, then get filed up to the Delaware State Bureau of Identification for statewide tracking.

The page is the fastest way to get a phone number or a mailing address for a specific request. It does not show a daily arrest log, and the department does not post mugshots or booking sheets online.
LPD offers in-person fingerprinting at the station for licensing, immigration, and firearm purchase purposes. You need to call first or stop by to set a time. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. The department rolls the prints on standard cards and ships them up to SBI for processing. Results are not same day. You get them back through the requesting agency, not through LPD.
For actual record requests, LPD points the public to a formal written channel. No drop-in lookup exists. The department does keep arrest records, but the files live on the agency side and must be pulled through FOIA. Original records have to be reviewed at City Hall during regular business hours.

Delaware State Police Troop 7

Troop 7 is the primary DSP unit for the unincorporated areas of Sussex County around Lewes. Any stop, crash, or arrest made on state roads or outside city limits usually runs through this troop.
Troop 7 arrest records show up in two places. Major arrests get posted as press releases through the DSP Newsroom. You can also pull them on the arrest archive. Expect a 24 to 48 hour lag. Minor cases often do not make the news feed.
For a specific police report or crash report from Troop 7, you need a FOIA request filed with the Delaware State Police. The agency routes it through the Department of Safety and Homeland Security. Criminal history checks go through the State Bureau of Identification, not the troop itself.

Most Lewes cases get arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court first, then move up to the Court of Common Pleas or Superior Court depending on the charge. It is the best free tool for checking whether an arrest has moved into the formal case stage.
Records you can see include case number, filing date, parties, attorneys, docket entries, hearing dates, motions, and sentencing data when posted. Juvenile cases, sealed cases, and most Family Court files are not online. Expunged records disappear from the site by design.
For active warrants near Lewes, the DELJIS Wanted Persons portal is the public tool. Search by last name. Results show full name, DOB month and year, race, sex, pending charges, issuing court, warrant number, and case number. Only law enforcement can execute a warrant. Do not act on any hit yourself.
Lewes Archive Center Records
